How to Blacklist/Whitelist IP’s in Captcha Bank?

Blocking an IP Address is an act of security used on the web to block connections from a specific IP address or range of addresses that are considered undesirable or antagonistic.

What is an IP Address?

An IP address is a unique identifier that allows to send and receive information to and from a specific device in a given network.

Blacklist and Whitelist, both are basic Access Control Mechanism. Blacklist or Whitelist is generally applied to the elements like email addresses, users, passwords, URLs, IP Addresses, domain names etc.

In the case of the blacklist, the items on the list are denied access, while in Whitelist the items on the list are only allowed to access.

Firstly you need to navigate to the Manage IP Addresses Menu. When you click on the menu, a screen with the tabbed layout will appear.

There are three tabs and these are 1) Blacklist IP Address / Range, 2) Whitelist IP Address/ Range, and 3) Block / Unblock Countries.

What is an IP Blacklist?

A blacklist is a spam blocking list, that can prevent your mail server from sending the email. If you find your mail server has been blacklisted, some email you send may never be delivered.

Steps to follow to Blacklist IP’s in Captcha Bank?

In the Blacklist IP Address / Range Tab you need to select whether you want to blacklist a Single IP Address or an IP Range. Depending upon your requirement, select the appropriate option from the drop-down.

Now you have to specify the IP Address / Range which you want to block.

Next select the time duration, how long you want that IP Address / Range to be blocked. You can also add comments to it.

When done, click on Block IP Address / Range Button.

You can see the Blacklisted IP Addresses and  Ranges on the same page under heading View Blocked IP Address / Ranges.

To Unblock, just click on Delete button the Blocked IP Address / Range entry.

We have also added maps to the Blacklist IP Address / Ranges so that you can see the location directly on the map.

What is an IP Whitelist?

A whitelist is a spam filtering list, that gives access only to the items that are listed in the whitelist and rest of all are not allowed to access the particular network.

Steps to follow to Whitelist IP’s in Captcha Bank?

Browse to Whitelist IP Address / Range tab. Here, you need to select whether you want to Whitelist a Single IP, an IP Range, or Multiple IP’s. Depending upon your requirement, select the appropriate option from the drop-down.

Now you have to specify the IP Address / Range which you want to Whitelist.

Next select the time duration, how long you want that IP Address / Range to be Whitelisted. You can also add comments.

When done, click on Whitelist IP Address / Range Button.

You can see the Whitelisted IP Address / Ranges on the same page under heading Manage Whitelist IP Addresses.
